Portage Northern cheer team heads to districts

“We pushed ourselves to new lengths and never gave up,” says junior Alyssa Edison after the varsity cheer team placed 5th placed fifth at the district tournament and set a new school record with their score.

While the team did not make it to regionals, they are still very happy and proud of their results. “We knew that no matter what happened at districts that we all knew we put our best out on the mat and we can only control what we did,” said junior Taylor Cooper. “Our drive for cheer this year is what I think helped push us further than before. We always wanted to make all of our skills and stunts be the highest amount of points we could score, and make all of our rounds interesting and exciting to watch.”
