16 popular book to movie adaptations that are worth the watch

Everyone has been in the situation where they read a great book and wish that there was a movie of it so they could see all their favorite characters in action. Luckily, there are many novels and books series that have already been created into films or are in the works right now.

The following list shows 10 books/books series have been made into movies. This list does not include books made into TV shows. 


The Harry Potter and the Fantastic Beasts Series by J.K. Rowling 

Age Rating: PG-13

All seven Harry Potter books have been converted into 8 movies. Unfortunately, these beloved films are not available on any streaming platforms for free but they are available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video. The companion series by J.K. Rowling has also started being converted into movies. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald have been made into movies already and a third Fantastic Beasts movie is set to release in 2022. The Fantastic Beasts movies are not free on any streaming platforms but people can rent or buy them on Amazon prime Video, YouTube, and iTunes.

The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings Series by J.R.R. Tolkien

Age Rating: PG-13

The popular and classic novels have been converted into six films which are available for streaming on HBO Max. 

The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins

Age Rating: PG-13

Exluding the new prequel released in Spring of 2020, A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, all three novels from the original series have been created into movies. These films are available for purchase or rent on Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, and iTunes. The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay Part 1 are also available for streaming on Hulu for any users who paid for Live TV.

The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis

Age Rating: PG

Of the seven novels in the series, there have been four movies made about these classic stories. The four films are available for streaming on Disney+ for all those with subscriptions. They are also available to rent or buy on YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, and Google Play.

The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer

Age Rating: PG-13

Attention Twilight Fandom! According to Goodreads.com, Stephenie Meyer has announced that there will be two more installments in the book series in addition to the newest story, Midnight Sun. This long-adored saga has been transitioned into five movies over the years. The full movie collection is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video with a subscription and the films are available for purchase or rent on YouTube, iTunes, and Google Play.

The Princess Bride by William Goldman

Age Rating: PG

The action-packed story has been amde into a famous and top-notch film streaming on Disney+ with subscription.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney

Age Rating: PG

The nostalgic series has been made into 4 movies. They are available to stream on Disney+ with a subscription and can be rented or purchased on YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, and Google Play.

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Abertalli

Age Rating: PG-13

More well-known as Love, Simon, this mind-opening story is available to view on Hulu, Sling TV, YouTube, Google Play, and Amazon Prime Video.

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

Age Rating: PG-13

This heart-wrenching novel has been adapted into a film that is available for streaming on Netflix, Hulu, Sling TV, Starz, and Amazon Prime Video with a subscription.

The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks

Age Rating: PG-13

The cowboy love story is available for streaming on Hulu, Sling TV,
