The cross country SMAC championship was held on Saturday October 20th,  and the men’s team finished as conference champs while the women’s team were runners up.

Leading up to the meet, the runners were very excited.  Junior Kanishk Madhav’s said that his goal was to “win the SMAC championship title for guys and girls and really show that we are a team not to be messed around with,” a goal which was fulfilled on the men’s side.

The runners competed at St. Joseph at Riverview Park. Lead runners such as senior Peyton Witt, senior Luke Daniel, senior Connor Clemmens and senior Max Rathburn had hoped to make their last conference championship their best.  Though they felt the pressure of this very important race, they were more than motivated to do the best they possibly can. Witt was the conference champion, running a 19:02. The first Huskie across the line for the guys was Daniel, who finished second with a time of 16:21.

The team is in action next at the Regional Meet at Portage West Middle School on Saturday.
