“Music gives me a sense of community through others that love it too,” says Jacob Rollins (10). Rollins is a huge fan of many types of music, but is definitely passionate about rock music. “I listen to anything from delta blues from the 1930s and 40s to the Norwegian black metal scene of the 1990s,” says Rollins. Rock music is unique because it originated from blues and country which evolved into the classic rock and roll  that we all recognize and from there, branching off into several categories such as heavy metal, punk, and alternative rock. “I listen to what I listen to because of the intensity and reality of the music,” says Rollins, “also the aspect of being part of an underground movement of our history is a big part as well.” Each genre of music brings feelings to the listener. “It’s almost a thought experiment; it can bring back memories or even just put you in a place where you’re surrounded by your comfort zone, a tidal wave of obscurity,” says Rollins.
