Since mid-August, freshman from three middle schools, West, North, and Gage, have practiced at least three hours a day. “It’s been hard work, and we’re getting better every day,” said Bailey Neal (9). “It’s also great to meet some freshman before school starts,” said Neal.

The team has 15 members and all players are contributing in their early matches. They have already played games against Delton, Plainwell, Kalamazoo Christian, Kalamazoo Central, Schoolcraft, and Marshall. The team has a 500 winning percentage. However, Friday at Schoolcraft the team dominated Plainwell and Kalamazoo Christian before running into a red hot Marshall team. The freshmen team finished 2nd in the meet. “We had a tough night at Portage Central Wednesday, so it was nice to play well Friday,” said Neal.

The team is off until Saturday, September 6 when they host a freshman jamboree. Make sure you come out and watch this team as they continue to improve.
