As for senior Dorah Stephen, her dedication and hard-work in school helped make the decision for the Houston Award easy for the teachers. Months prior to the award, her essay was used for her college submissions, but she edited it to make sure it was perfect for decision making. “The essay I wrote took be about 2 weeks to write, including the edits, which I dedicated lots of time to make sure it was finished,” says Stephen.
